Life and Love in the Desert

I still don't know exactly what format I want this in, but I do know that I have some things to say and I often censor myself in Ceili's blog. So I'm back here for a while.

First of all, I'm mortified by the fact that people like Bill O'Reilly are calling Cindy Sheehan a traitor. Disagree if you will, wish her to go away if you want. But a traitor? When all she's done is demand the attention of the president? He can choose to deny her, that's his right. And she can choose to keep asking, that's hers. She has only asked for what noble cause her son died in Iraq. Again, he doesn't have to answer her, but asking the question surely does not make her a traitor!

We have discovered that one of Joe's brothers, Danny has decided to join the Army. While he can certainly benefit from the discipline and experiences the Army has to offer, I wish he had come to this decision at some other time in our history. Alas, our life does not always present us with the best options to choose from.

We have discovered that Joe's other brother is in jail. And while we fear for him constantly, the sad truth is that jail is probably the safest place for him to be right now. The most hope we ever had for him was the last time he was in jail and about to be released. Again, life options aren't always ideal.

Meanwhile, my step-brother is enjoying a small reprieve in Texas with his family before returning to Iraq. I worry greatly for him and I'm just thankful for a few months I can relax a litle.

Things are significantly more cheery in our home camp. Joe is starting work on 8/23 following a board meeting on 8/22 that we are hopeful will be the final chapter in a long annoying story. He is excited about teaching and I'm very excited for him. Ceili is growing so fast her shoes and I are having trouble keeping up! And we're working on trying to have another baby, so that's been fun too.

I have lots to say and lots to observe, so I will try to keep this up now. Glad to be back!
