CHS!
Yes, we discovered that Joe gets to feel very at home with the cheering at football games with "CHS" not only the initials of his alma mater high school, but of his present employment high school as well. Very handy. Of course we had some conflict of interest when we attended the football game Friday night as it was those two high schools locked in critical football combat. Our alma mater was ranked #1, his current school #2, and we sat on the visitor side at our old school. That was so weird. It was weird too feeling a little smug when our former school kicked our current school's rearend from here to Timbuktu. Go, CHS!
Saturday was even stranger. I noticed an elderly woman loitering in the street in front of our house. I watched her curiously for a while until she spotted me and I ducked behind a wall like a thief. A few moments later, I dared to peek again and she was starting to make her way up our driveway. I opened the door and went out, asking her if she needed any help. Yes, in fact, she did. The sun was setting and it was far too bright for her to see. She'd been driving and finally had to stop because she couldn't see anything and the light was painful. She used our phone to call her daughter, but she wasn't home. So we piled up the kid and Joe followed as I drove the nice lady home in her car. She was terribly embarrassed, but I'm just thankful she was able to get home safely. Her daughter called us about an hour later, and I could tell she was quite worried about her too. We forget how fragile our abilities are sometimes. And how scary the world is. She was honestly very lucky to have found herself at our home, in our neighborhood. That was a situation that could have gone very badly otherwise.
So, that was our odd weekend. Today I have a half day at work so I can go to the dentist to have a permanent crown installed, and to the OB/GYN to have my wonderful, beloved nurse practitioner put me on the track to get knocked up good and proper.
